IV YOUNG CHAMBER MUSICIANS’ SPRING

International Competition of Childrens’ Chamber Music Groups

Regulations

 

1. The competition is organised by Ogólnokształcącą Szkołę Muzyczną I stopnia im. I.J. Paderewskiego w Krakowie and SINFONIA artistic agency.

2. Lecture hall will be the chamber music hall of the Cracow Academy of music "Florianka".

3. Dates - 5 - 9 April 2006

4. Participants in the competition will be pupils of music schools who are members of chamber music groups (duets, trios, quartets and quintets) consisting of string and wind insruments and piano.

5. The competition is divided into two age groups:

I group, ‘younger’– participants born after 31.12.1995;

II group „older”– participants born between 30.06.1992, and 1.01.1996;

In both groups it is permitted that pupils of a different age may take part on condition that the majority of the group are within the ages. All exceptions will be determined at the discretion of the organisers.

6. The competition will consist of the following elements:

First level: two contrasting pieces or two contrasting movements of one piece(one presenting technical ability of the group, and the second musicality), not longer than 12 minutes in total;

Second level: free choice of piece not exceeding 10minutes in duration,

In both groups it will be favourably viewed if one of the pieces will be by a Polish composer. All transcriptions and arrangements will all be accepted..

7. It is permitted to work from music.

8. For first place in each category the group will receive a statuette. Additional awards are expected.

9. Every group and represented school will receive a certificate of participation.

10. The organisers reserve the right to make additional awards at their discretion..

11. A jury selected by the organisers will judge the event.

12. The judging and award of points will be in accordance with the principles set down in the separate regulations.

13. The decision of the jury is final and non-negotiable.

14. Qualification of groups will be based on recording of one of the pieces they have prepared for the competition one of the following formats: cassette recording, CD, Video, DVD or mp3.

15. Entry material together with a written announcement of entry should be submitted (a colour photograph of the group much appreciated) by 31.01.2006.

16. The committee deciding qualification will be called on by the organisers to reach a final decision on participants by 15.02.2006.

17. Groups accepted for participation will be informed by email and in writing. Results of the qualification will also be announced on the internet..

18. Participants will perform in the order given by a draw.

19. The competition will culminate with a winners concert together with a prize giving ceremony.

20. All prize winners must participate in the prize winners concert

21. Groups qualifying for participation in the competition must pay an entry fee of PLN60 (15 Euros) for every participant in the group sent by bankers transfer to Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SINFONIA 40 1030 1582 0000 0008 0222 2009,  before 15.03.2006.

22. The organisers do not take any responsibility to transport, food or accommodation.

23. The organisers reserve the right to record any performance and to make use of any resulting recording as they require.
