VI YOUNG CHAMBER MUSICIANS’ SPRING

Competition of Childrens’ Chamber Music Groups

5 - 9.03.2008 Cracow

Let’s find the common key to the world of music!

Welcome!

Already we are meeting for the sixth time at the international musical education meeting Young Chamber Musicians’ Spring. During the coming days,  Poland’s cultural capital, Cracow, will become also the capital of  young Chamber musicians. Here many teams of young artists will come to paint the walls, the towers and the streets of our Ancient Royal City with beautiful sound. Young artists creating spring music to be carried around the tenements by the wind and awake nature from her winter slumber, building bridges with their music; bridges of friendship, happiness and tolerance. Such is our spring which for several years now has provided many hundreds of hours of joyous music-making, unforgettable concerts and interesting meetings. Please come to every event in our project and feel thoroughly at home – and I know many of you are regular visitors.

The 6th edition of Young Chamber Musicians’ Spring is first and foremost a Competition of Childrens’ Chamber Music Groups (6 - 9.03). This year’s renowned Jury are:  prof. Witold Herman, prof. Barbara Świątek - Żelazna, prof. Roman Reiner, prof. Dan Ross (USA) i Ad. II st. Mariola Cieniawa and they will listen to over 50 groups bringing out the best in young performers. We will get to know the Finalists of the competition on Sunday during the Winners’ Concert (9.03).

We would like that this year’s Young Chamber Musicians’ Spring,  just as in previous years, will be a magical moment in each child’s early career and therefore we have organised many concerts, and methodical meetings during which there will be the opportunity to witness great masters and talented youngsters alike.

One of this year’s highlghts will be the Inaugural Concert (6.03) during which artists such as Dorota Imiełowska, Mariola Cieniawa, Anna Polony, Wiesław Suruło and Arkadiusz Babiński will recreate the unforgettable climate of Astor Piazzolla’s evenings.

Other special events in this year’s festival are, as well know to our regular visitors – The Spring Concert (4.03). This year will be a piano recital by Gajusz Kęsk.  It wouldn’t be a spring clebration without a concert for nursery (5, 6.03) during which the Music Primary School  ‘I. J. Paderewskiego’ will present Renata Polona and Paweł Kociołek’s Fairytale of Instruments. Teachers are heartily invited to a presentation of pieces from Ewa Iwan’s colection („I play beautifully on the violin”) Ładnie gram na skrzypcach (PWM) where we will be able to meet the author and exchange our experiences of working with youngest violinists. (7.03).

Young Chamber Musicians’ Spring is an international affair. We welcome choirs from the USA (7.03) and from our friend schools in Italy in special concerts of friendship (8.03).

For those, overcome by spring colds, and unable to attend in person, we have wonderful news. Thanks to RadiaArt. (www.radioart.pl) everyone form the farthest recesses of the globe  will be able to hear some of the concerts live. Current information will be on the website www.kameralni.com

Welcome to participation in this year’s program and in particular to listen to the competitions. Our attendance is the greatest prize for the youngsters’ hard work. We might remember that giving youngsters the opportunity to perform together we open up the enchanted world of sound before them. That is why we are here together, why we play together!
